Down at the Waterfront
Do you have good memories of “going down to the waterfront”? I believe the waterfront means a lot of different things to people, depending upon where they live. For some people, like those in New York City, the waterfront is the busy and dirty Hudson River, with boats of every size in ports, longshoremen working the docks, and it not being a safe place for decent people after dark. But for people in North Carolina, the waterfront means the beaches of the Atlantic Ocean.
I love the water, whether it is a river, the ocean or just a lake. If it has water deep enough for a boat, I can spend the entire day on the waterfront and have a wonderful time.

Luxury Raffles
Having raffles for a big grand prize is unlawful in Tennessee but is allowed in many more progressive states. Tennessee is backwards in a lot of things and we always blame it on the Bible Belt.
A friend of mine, Allison, was invited to a charity event while on vacation in Hawaii and she bought a $25 raffle ticket to join in the fun. First prize was a new car but second prize was a pair of $10,000 diamond earrings – and she won! I bet she will treasure those earrings for the rest of her life.
Summer Salads
There are so many delicious summer salads that make an excellent side dish – especially if you are grilling out. There is nothing like a big bowl of potato salad to go along with a fresh grilled hamburger. Or a wonderful pasta salad to go along with grilled salmon. Or how about a nice macaroni salad to go with those barbecued ribs?
I’m going to head for the kitchen right now and make some kind of pasta salad. I don’t know what all I will put in it until I see what fresh veggies are still in the refrigerator. But I can guarantee at least some chopped Vidalia onion and black olives!
How to Fix a Computer
I would like to have just one week – ONE WEEK – with no computer problems. Is that really too much to ask? Really? Evidently, it is.
Music and Trivia
One of my favorite web sites – in the Top 10, for sure – is the Pandora.com free music site. This is like a personal jukebox on your laptop or PC. I love the way you can select a type of music and then discover a variety of similar artists and bands.
You also get to read little bits of trivia, easily click through to the lyrics and can download any of the songs played from iTunes, usually for only 99 cents. I love this siteĀ and you can listen for free to 30 hours, or pay a very small fee and get unlimited hours of music to calm you, motivate you or inspire you.
