I keep seeing all these ads for free cell phones. there must be a catch. How can some people be getting free phones but other people have to pay, like $300, for their phones? And I have to pay $50 a month but other people get it for free? What’s up with that?

Bad Modem

So much about computers is a simple one time installation and then you can forget about it. We expect our monitors to work for years with no maintenance other than wiping down the screen once in a while. We expect the hard drive to work for years and get lazy about backing up our data, then we are devastated when the PC crashes and we lose everything.
My latest electronic tragedy was my modem. I bought the modem about 3 years ago and have a home network with 3 computers and 2 printers connected to it. I like to be able to connect to the internet from any room in the house. But yesterday the modem quit – just like THAT – and I had to deal with shelling out $60 at Sam’s Club for a new one.
And now I find out that the laptop with Windows VISTA will not get online anymore since I got the new modem. ARRRGH!
Something I just now realized – I must have been living under a ROCK! – is that Amazon gives you a free music download every day. That is not only great for introducing people to new music, it is a great way to get people to come to your web site every day. I don’t do it every day, but I have grabbed several good songs for free and hope they keep doing this – I love FREE!
Sucking It Up

I hate the waste and expense of paper towels. But now there is Skoy, a biodegradable cloth that dries quickly, and if you wet and nuke it regularly (it will be hot, so be careful), it won’t turn into a party place for countertop bacteria. One cloth is supposed to outlast 15 rolls rolls of paper towels and at $6 for a four-pack, it’s certainly cheaper. To find more information about this new product you can go to skoycloth.com and see for yourself how this is a wonderful idea and will certainly be gaining popularity in numerous households in the near future.
Pumpkins

I always buy a few pumpkins to put on the front porch this time of year. My neighborhood always go all out with holidays and the decorating that goes along with each holiday. But this year the pumpkins have gotten way more costly and the quality just doesn’t justify the cost increase, so I’m boycotting pumpkins this year, but it certainly hasn’t stopped any of my neighbors.
